Ho deciso di non suonare al concerto di Berlino per i festeggiamenti dell`anniversario del trattato di Roma, perche´pur sentendomi europea e riconoscendo l`enorme valore di un trattato che ha messo le basi per UN` EUROPA all´insegna di una PACE duratura e profonda, mi accorgo purtroppo che certe feste sono legate spesso alle parole e alla retorica e si brinda con un bicchiere vuoto.Lo spessore storico culturale civile filosofico europeo ci obbligano a fare di piu`:
l´uomo e i suoi diritti al centro di tutto. E questo deve valere per la politica estera e per le guerre.
Per rispettare quello che io credo sia lo “spirito europeo”, oggi non festeggero´con le mie canzoni , proprio perche`non voglio che il mio “Ragazzo dell`Europa” diventi ostaggio di questo contesto.

I decided not to sing in Berlin for the celebration of the 50th anniversary of The Rome Treaty, because even though I feel European and I recognize the huge value of a treaty that has its foundation on a Europe based on long-lasting and deep peace, I realized that unfortunately some celebrations are often linked only to words and to rhetorics.
The rights of man and nature must be at the center and have to be respected all over the world and war violates them all.
In order to honor what I think is the “ European spirit”, I will not celebrate today with my voice, because I don’t want my song “ Ragazzo dell´Europa “ to became hostage of this specific context.

Ich habe mich dazu entschlossen, nicht auf dem Konzert in Berlin
aus Anlaß der Feierlichkeiten zum 50. Jubiläum der Unterzeichnung der Römischen Verträge, aufzutreten. Auch wenn ich mich europäisch fühle und den großen Wert dieser Verträge anerkenne, der das Fundament für EIN Europa gebildet hat, mit dem Auftrag eines dauerhaften und tiefen FRIEDENS, muß ich jedoch leider feststellen, daß einige Feierlichkeiten lediglich mit Worten und Rhetorik verbunden sind und man bedauerlicherweise nur mit einem leeren Glas anstößt.
Wir sind aufgrund der historischen, kulturellen, gesellschaftlichen und philosophischen Größe Europas genau dieser Institution viel mehr schuldig: Der Mensch und seine Rechte muß im Mittelpunkt von Allem stehen, und das muß auch für die Aussenpolitik und für die Kriege gelten ! Um dem gerecht zu werden, an das ich glaube, also an den europäischen Geist, werde ich heute nicht mit meinen Liedern feiern - gerade aus dem Grund weil ich verhindern möchte, daß mein Song “Ragazzo dell`Europa” (dt: “Junge Europas”) Geißel dieses Anlasses wird.
